Wilkomen! Welcome to my welcome post. I am your friendly neighborhood Renaissance nerd, here to attend to all your nerd needs. But fiiiiirst, here's a retarded "sales pitch"!
If you are like me, you check about seven different blogs every day - an entertainment blog, a gaming blog, a technology blog, and then about a million random ridiculous blogs. I am here to offer you all of these experiences in one place, with tags so you can only read about the stuff you're interested in!
So with my "mission statement" out of the way, here is a little about me:
- I am a nerd. Good, we got that out of the way.
-You may know me from a certain podcast based on a certain greatest television series of all time.
-I am currently unemployed, so I have all the time in the world to dedicate to this blog!
-I am a hardcore grammar nazi - one of the reasons that I chose this name was because it's difficult for some people to spell.
-I am sometimes very informal, and sometimes more formal than a black tie affair, even though I realize it's highly unnecessary on a blog. Some posts will be one line and a link, some will be well thought out reviews, and some will be superfluously long, semi-coherent rants.
Here are some of the things you will find on this blog:
Personal anecdotes: Sometimes things happen in my life that I think are funny. I might go out on a limb and try to convince other people they are funny as well.
-Random: I like sites like Fark, Geekologie, and Cracked - however I usually only think about 50% of any of those given sites is worth reading. I'll post the things I like and talk about how awesome they are.
-Television: I do not have cable, but I do follow a lot of shows online. Currently, I watch How I Met Your Mother, Dancing With the Stars, Glee, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, and Supernatural religiously. I have never watched a series out of order, and while there are some that I am behind on, I will never watch a serious show casually. Series that I have watched and will probably continue to blog about include Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Dollhouse, and Arrested Development. I also quite like animation, both American and Japanese, although these will more like fall under the category of.....
-Nostalgia: Most of the things I truly love have ended; be it a television series, a play I saw once, a toy I used to have. I have a really sharp memory, and sometimes I'll be reminded of those things. So you might see a blog one day entitled "Hey, remember how awesome Lite Brite was?" or "Why was Hey Arnold so darn underrated?" and "Why Disney's Aladdin is the greatest movie of all time."
-Gaming: I love video games, and I've sort of been on a high in the last few years because I never had a system growing up. Final Fantasy is my favorite, but I also love Zelda, Pokemon, Mario....I am incredibly under-exposed to gaming, but I have recently been playing Borderlands (I dressed up as Lilith at PAX last year) and Fable 3, and I have a HUGE laundry list of games I need to play. It's more an issue of choosing one...I think Fallout will be next.
-Movies: I am NOT a movie buff - I much prefer television shows. However there are some movies that I am in love with, and some that I follow from their inception to their midnight release.
-Music: Music is my greatest passion. I am a singer, a violinist, and a rabid fan of all sorts of music new and old. Some days you might see a link to a new song by an indie band. Another day you may see Bruch's first violin concerto.
-Writing: I'm not sure if this is the best name for this category. I like poetry and novels a whole lot, but I'm also really interested in language, spelling, and most of all origins of words and phrases.
-Crafting: I have always been a fan of Cosplay, but I never had the resources or talent to do it. Recently, I've gotten more into it - mostly doing half Cosplay's that are accurate, but only because they're character's whose clothes can be found at Goodwill. I have sites like Cut Out and Keep and New Dress a Day bookmarked, and I'd really love to expand this facet of my geekiness.
-Lists: I really like listing things.
If you actually read this, THANK YOU, and please let me know if you have any requests for anything listed or unlisted.
